It was an amazing and warm weekend but the cold weather returns again this week. Dry skin is a frequent winter problem for our pets with all these weather changes and the drier heated air inside. Is your pet making itself and you crazy with scratching? He or she may benefit from regular brushing to remove dander and dead skin. Are you staying current on flea and tick prevention? We recommend year round protection in this area because those little buggers seem to live through our winters all too well. Some folks find that adding some supplements to their pet's food at this time of year can be helpful for dry skin--please call and ask us. Dry skin may also be a sign of some other issues. We may love the Fourth of July but it can be a tough holiday with our pets. Keep your pets cool and comfortable as the temperatures heat up during the day. Please provide fresh water throughout the day to encourage pets to drink despite the distraction of festivities. And while we are enjoying BBQs, make sure the four legged family members don't overindulge in rich foods and alcohol. As the evening approaches, keep your critters confined in a secure and quiet area so the fireworks don't "freak" them out. Many pets get loose and scared on the Fourth-make sure your pet has ID and a microchip in case they escape on you!
Summer is here and the living is easy! It is a great time to be out and about with our four legged family members enjoying this great weather. Remember to keep your pals cool in the heat---and keep them hydrated as they need lots of cool fresh water to enjoy the sunshine. If you are traveling or planning a road trip, please touch base with us. There have been several outbreaks of infectious disease for our pets in the surrounding areas, and we can help you protect your pet while you are enjoying your vacation time. Some of the vaccines that are available require some time to reach maximum effectiveness--so please plan ahead to make certain your family members don't contract an illness while you are all getting some fun in the sun!
The green grass, the flowers, the sun....and the fleas and ticks! We love spring but this one is following on the heels of a relatively mild winter and an exploding tick population. Those little buggers are already quite active, and we have lots of folks stopping by to get their favorite prevention. We have many options available, and we can help you determine which is the best fit for your pet and your family whether it is a collar, a topical, or an oral medication. All products that you purchase from us are backed by a guarantee from the manufacturer-you can be sure your products are not being made in no name factories or by counterfeit suppliers. Prevention truly is important--Lyme and anaplasmosis are tick borne diseases that can also be transmitted to people--so these preventive measures also protect your two legged family members. Letting fleas and ticks get a foothold in your home can also lead to costly infestations that require professional intervention to clean up. Come talk with us about how to stop fleas and ticks in their tracks!
I think that spring may finally be arriving! The sun, the green grass, the flowers....and the ticks! Our unseasonably warm winter (despite our late snows) has created an exploding tick population. People are already dealing with these nasty little buggers on their pets and themselves. We have several options available to help prevent these critters from getting your pups and kittens sick, and we can help you find the one that works best for your pet and your family. Some folks find a collar works great for them, while others prefer the ease of oral medications. And quite a few folks appreciate the ease of topicals---we can give you an option that is guaranteed by the company that makes it. We do not do any business with off brand or counterfeit products--you can be sure that what you are using for your pet does not come from an offshore no-name factory.
Flea and tick prevention is crucially important for your pet's health and also for your family's health. Lyme disease and anaplasmosis are both tick borne diseases that we can get as well as our pets--and a good preventive product will stop fleas and ticks from reproducing in your home. Trying to clean up a flea or tick infestation is a very costly and painful process. |
